Family Portrait Session | Metrowest Family Portraits

One year later and still cute as can be. These set of twins and their older brother were recently on the cover of Parents & Kids Magazine from their shoot we did in June 2007. It was great to see how much they had grown in such a short time during our September session. Still sneaking in kisses and hugs like before. I was thrilled to have captured them all together on that tree stump, smiling and looking my way as well as getting a beautiful portrait of them with mom. Here are some favorites from their session.

AsI play catch-up with sessions I realize she will be back for her newborn session in just a few short weeks. I know its October and I am sharing a beach session... but I am so behind sharing favorites on my blog.

So here is one from this past summer. A very adorable little girl and her parents. We met at the Chatham Bars Inn on the cape and took portraits in their garden before heading to the beach. The night was just beautiful for their portraits. This little girl stole my heart as she sang and flashed me her smile my way. I loved how prepared mom was with bubbles, tutu and fairy wings. A fun and whimsical session. Here are some favorites.

It was an honor to photograph the feature story in this month's issue of BaystateParent Think Pink Issue. I met Anne and her 2 boys back in August for their shoot along with Paula Ethier the Art Director at BaystateParent in my Framingham studio loft. It was so much fun....Anne is amazing woman, a breast cancer survivor at the young age of 30 and a mom to two very cute boys.
Her boys were naturals in front of my cameras and lights and I felt I were able to capture photos to illustrate the courageou story of Anne and her battle with breast cancer.

As some of you know I am an active member of the Think Pink Photograpphy organization that offers free sessions to breast cancer survivors with in 1 year of treatment. The session can take place during treatment or when you feel up to it after your treatment. "This month's Think Pink cover, photographed by award-winning photographer, Paula Swift of Framingham, shines a light on 30-year-old Anne Meisner of Natick with her two supercute sons, Jeffrey, age 4, and Collin, 21 months.

Meisner, who was just 28 years old when she was diagnosed with breast cancer, is now out of active treatment and shows no evidence of the disease. She is featured on page 38 of this issue in our story on the Ellie Fund, an organization that took away the stressful every day details of life so that Meinser could focus on what was really important: getting healthy, being a great mom, and spending precious time with her husband, family, and friends.

The decision to include the boys in this month's photo shoot was a comfort to Meisner. "I probably only have one photo of the boys and me, and I was wearing a bandana. I am always the one behind the camera," she said, grateful for the opportunity.

Art Director Paula Monette Ethier chose this particular cover shot because it reinforces what moms with breast cancer shared with us in this month's issue: They want to care for their kids and receive support in keeping that mother-child routine as normal as possible. (See how to do this in Carrie Wattu's story on Thrive, page 46).

Swift, who regularly offers free portrait sessions to women and men battling and surviving breast cancer, said, "It was an honor to photograph Anne and her sons, to show this courageous young woman. It really makes you realize cancer has not one face... but many, young and old."

It is the friendly face of Meisner that explains, "Someone told me at one point last year that you will never feel so much love then when you are going through a cancer diagnosis and treatment. That is true."

We hope our October cover and Think Pink issue is another way of spreading this love and support for one another around.

What a great senior session we had... a musician and artist all rolled into one for him. He wanted his portraits to reflect his creativity. He brought his guitar and examples of his work ( which is pretty cool). We started in the started in the studio and then headed outside. Did you see the most recent cover of Parents and Kids Magazine?
One of my images is featured! The cover features 3 of my little clients, a set of twins who snuck in a kiss while eating apples together with their big brother. I just loved this moment that was captured back in June 2007. Looking forward to seeing this family again in a few weeks. Wonder if they are able to give out autographs ...or scribble now that they are famous...hahaha.

Today on September 8th NECN interviewed Heather Kempskie, the editor of P&K and at the end of the interview the news anchor held up the cover with my image. The photo just happens to feature Leslie Gaydo's children who is their morning news anchor.

1 month old twins - MA Twins Portraits

A set of very sweet 1 month old twins came to the studio recently for their newborn session. I like to avoid photographing newborns of this age because they are difficult to get to sleep for those cuddly sleepy shots and tend to cry a lot during studio sessions, but we made an exception because they were twins. They would look up towards their mom as she would whisper to them. I could see the love that has already bonded this new family together. What a fun photo shoot this was with a mom and her children. The mom is the founder and CEO of a children's shoes company and they needed a nice fun portrait of her with her children for their stores. She was up for anything ...even climbed up their swingset and slid down the slide for a shots. I love these type of sessions where everyone involved is relaxed during the session which allows me to capture beautiful natural portraits. I first met this family last year when we did portraits on the beach in Chatham, Cape Cod last summer. You can see one of their portraits in the header on my blog - the family on the beach in white on right. This time we started their sessions in my Framingham studio loft about a month ago for some custom Indian portraits of mother and daughter. The clothing they wore was beautiful and the little girl was so playful with her mom. Then we headed over to the Wayside Inn Grist Mill for some more candid photojournalistic family portraits. Just Married

I met this newly married couple just about an hour after their wedding for their portrait session. We met for their wedding portraits at the Wayside Inn Grist Mill. They were such a sweet couple and were great to photograph. Do you see the heart shape by the opening in the trees? I didn't until I got back and was downloading. Once I saw the images in my computer ..i saw it and was thrilled, just perfect timing for this couples' session. I have been shooting at this location for years and never noticed the heart shape the trees had started to make along this path. I just call it another "blessing from the photo gods". : ) We ended at their home where I incorporated the the Irish Claddagh door knocker at their front door and American flag waving outside to symbolize their lives coming together as one...she is from Ireland and he is from New England.

Baby Bono has arrived....the nickname mom and dad gave him when he was still in mom's tummy. I met this couple a few months back in studio for their maternity session. A very sweet boy who was giving his very patient mom and dad a hard time during his shoot...but you would never know it in these portraits. Sisters and High School Senior Portrait Session - MA

even mom and Max the dog snuck in for a few portraits too. They came down from New Hampshire to meet at one of my favorite locations to photograph at; the Wayside Inn Grist Mill. It started out sunny and then started to rain a bit but the girls didn't mind one bit. They were great to photograph and so beautiful. We did some fun shots which included their favorite baseball team caps...yes there are Red Sox and Yankee fans living together...not sure that would fly in my house. : )

I find my inspirations from my own children...who are the very reason why I left the field of photojournalism and started my own portrait photography business. Triplets First Birthday Party in Boston

What an incredible birthday party for these special 3 children...who are triplets. It was held at the Four Seasons in Boston, they wore Korean traditional dress for the first half of the party. They were so good and so much fun. I loved the Korean customs of choosing something of significance out of a bowl to predict what they might become in the future. They all chose a dental mirror...which made dad very proud...he is a dentist. Here are many favorites from their party..

I had the Tiny Dancer song by Elton John in my head as I proofed these 2 little sisters dancing in my studio. They came in for their mom's maternity session but we had so much capturing them dancing around in my pettiskirts and tutus in the studio that I have to post these images in 2 separate blog posts...because there are so many favorites. Beautiful First Communion Girl

We met at the Grist Mill on a dreary and rainy day..but that didn't stop them from having fun. I was able to capture lots of fun portraits of their family and all their boys( young men). What are "Minis at the Mill"?
A mini 30 minute portrait session at the Wayside Inn Grist Mill in Sudbury. These mini sessions are perfect for 1 child or a family with 2 siblings. Paula will photograph your child(ren) being themselves, smiling, laughing and having fun in her typical lifestyle photography, but in a shorter time frame. Why the Grist Mill area? I have found this is the most versatile shooting spot in the Metrowest area. It offers a picturesque mill, paths, a barn, stream, pond and bridges. There are lots a incredible shooting areas Paula has taken advantage of throughout the years. The lighting is just perfect there all day long...which is key to Paula's natural light outdoor sessions.

Here are the details
~ 30 minute sessions at the Wayside Inn Grist Mill in Sudbury, MA
~ $125 for the 30 minute portrait session
~ 20 proofs will be presented online with in 10 days of your session via an online gallery and ordering system
~ Receive 10% off your portrait order if order is received with in 4 days of proofs presented online (no exceptions)
~ $200 minimum portrait purchase
~ There is a 7 day order deadline
~ Session must be paid in full to book date and time
~ Session fee is non-refundable but can be applied to another date/time if your child is sick the day of your mini session. Please call 24-48 hr if possible if your child is sick. We will move your session to the next available date and time of Minis. No shows will forfeit their session fee.
~ All major credit cards accepted
~ Minis at the Mill to take place only on dates listed
~ If it rains on the date you are booked Paula will work with you to find a date that works with both yours and her schedule. Overcast is ok...just no rain drops.

Joshi Camera Magazine Feature

What is Joshi Camera? This is a Japanese magazine that features women photographers from across the world. I believe Joshi Camera means Girl with camera. One of the magazine’s editors had found my pictures online. I am featured in a section called "25 Girls with Camera in the World"..in that section there are 4 us from America, 1 from Poland and others from Japan. The photography is amazing! Their layouts are a photographer's dream...large photos and not much text. It looks and feels like a Martha Stewart living meets Wondertime magazine. Even printed with Soy ink.

Now if I could speak Japanese, then I would understand what was written on the other photographers featured this month. At least I recognize my pictures and my name. I was asked questions on my camera gear professional and point and shoot ( yes I even have one of those dreaded camera lag point and shoots for those quick family shots). Also talked about my favorite magazines, my work a bit..like what I was thinking when I took the images that were taken and how I got started in photography.

Its out...the newest edition of Bay State Parent and one of my favorite images from last summer is featured on the cover. Its of a Mother and daughter and I think it works perfectly with the Mother's Day theme. You can view the magazine here . It great and full of lots of information for parents all across Massachusetts. I love their calendar section..there is always something in there to bring the kids to do. Maternity Portrait Session MA

A unique maternity session because they brought their first baby to the studio for the session....their dog. She was very cute and did well with sitting by her mom and dad on command. Not sure she knows what she is instore for when their baby boy arrives in June. Looking forward to meeting their "lil' friend in June". Here are some favorites.

It was just over a year ago that I photographed this big brother's newborn session and he has a little brother. Both boys were so cute to photograph. I don't think I have seen a 1 year be so sweet to their baby sibling before... especially front of my cameras. Mom and dad were great to photograph and very patient as I photographed them throughout their home. Here are many favorites from their session.
